Easy to activate and simple to use, though I left it on the default frequency. The instructions for changing the house code it uses to send the signal looked reasonably OK to follow, but you should note that this involves a series of presses on the button and not the usual dial selection that other X10 modules have. It's reception range in the house is limited but this is an older brick wall property and is being used in an extension to the intervening walls are extra thick (old external wall). That said it's range is probably less than 10m.
