This sensor will provide you with information whether a door or window is open or closed. This product consists of both a main unit and a magnetic element. One part of the sensor is mounted on the moving part of the door or window and the other part is attached to the frame. The sensor can be installed using screws or double sided tape.
The HSM02 is powered by battery which stays in a sleeping state until an action is detected. After programming the device with a set sleeping time, the device will wake up and send a status update. It will then go back to sleeping mode. Batteries can be charged without removing the device from the door or frame. When the batteries need to be replaced the device will give you a visual warning which will then send a warning to the z-wave controller. The units send information to a controller or any other associated Z-Wave device and up to 4 devices can be controlled from this device.
You will need to use a remote control or any other Z-Wave controller to enable the device to be included into a Z-Wave network. A static controller such as a PC with home automation software or a gateway is required to configure certain behaviour.

This device is brilliant and I have been using it for more than a month. There are no false alarms and easy inclusion and good range. Very impressed and happy to learn that it comes with a CR battery.
I paired this with razberry working with raspberry pi and setup my own home automation.

This one has a much nicer and more compact design as compared to the other door sensor by Aeon. when flushed together, it looks like 1 piece.
The 2 pieces of this sensor does not have to be perfectly aligned, there is about 2 cm of tolerance. That's a relatively big tolerance for you to comfortably mount the unit with double sided tape.
The battery for this unit is not your standard watch battery. It is 2 to 3 times thicker than usual, which means this could last forever!!

This was extremely easy to set up, much cheaper than the other door sensors available and from the images on the site, a much nicer design.
I gave this a four star rating rather than a five because I have had a couple of false alarms. This has only been two instances and I think an acceptable level for a wireless device. I have overcome this by requiring a motion sensor in the entrance to be tripped along with the door sensor before sounding the alarm.
To be fair, any monitored 'old fashioned' alarm service will require at least two sensors to be tripped to treat it as a genuine alarm activation.
Paired with the Vera control unit, it is simple to stick one of these devices (even temporarily with the sticky pads) to a door to monitor the activity in a room.
