Vera is an easy to use and setup Z-Wave controller which allows you to control all of your Z-Wave devices locally and remotely.
The Vera controller can be easily set up by a novice user to provide lighting scenes, triggered events, energy saving and security monitoring using your Z-Wave enabled devices. This can be done by acessing a PC or by using an iphone app. It also has the advanced feature of being able to contact you in the event that you leave something on after leaving your home.
Detailed information about setting up Vera along with discussion and a full range of subjects relating to the product can be found at the Vera wiki Benefits of Vera
To get going, just plug Vera in, and then from any web browser in the home go to findvera.com. You will be instantly connected to the Vera gateway in your home - no need for any fiddling with configuration pages of routers, and you don't need a degree in computer networking to get going!
The version of Vera we sell is fully compatible with all UK and European Z-Wave modules, and all Z-Wave certified European devices
If you thought home automation was complicated then you've never seen Vera. With Vera even a total novice can do everything you'd expect from a high-end home automation system:
Vera constantly tracks how much energy you are using. Every time you turn on a light, or lower the thermostat, Vera logs it and calculates how much energy is being used. Vera then shows you simple, visual charts of your energy usage: in which rooms the energy is being used, by which types of appliances, at which times of day, and day of the week, and so on.
Just plug-in a wireless camera and within about 60 seconds you'll see it appear on the control panel on your mobile phone and web browser. Really, that's it. Then you can see what's going on in your home live, and, if you wish, Vera will keep an archive automatically at regular intervals or when sensors are tripped. Vera's even smart enough to turn on the lights in front of a camera when you're viewing it. Most importantly, Vera is the only consumer security camera system using a secure, encrypted network. Nobody can view your cameras or archive without your password.
Vera includes a beautiful and simple universal remote control app for the iPhone and iPod touch. If you don't have one, you can still use a stand-alone Z-Wave remote control with the Vera set-up
Vera has been designed to be simple enough for the total tech novice, but it's a great choice for developers too. It's an open system, and all the API's are published; even the remote access ones. Vera is based on a messaging system, so it's easy to add write new modules to add functionality. Soon there will also be a Lua-based scripting language with a web based code generator to make it easier for non-programmers.
When you buy Vera, Mi Casa Verde will provide you with tech support for a full year, and a 1 year warranty on the hardware.
If you're not completely satisfied with Vera, just return her within 30 days for a full refund. No questions asked - that's the UK Automation 30 day money back guarantee!
** Note: To access Vera remotely using the secure network requires a subscription from Mi Casa Verde, which is free for the first 90 days. Without the subscription you can still remotely access Vera as you would any other IP device. Vera does not have an internal hard drive to store the archive of video footage from the security cameras or the log of energy usage. As part of the subscription, Mi Casa Verde provides a secure server and 1GB of capacity for your Vera to store this.

Although there's many units out there, some run via pc & some are 'stand alone' units like Vera 3 & Vera Lite. There are many advantages to Vera, simplicity being the key feature. As any home automation system configuring all your needs may take a little time, but z wave / Vera make it easy & quite fun to use.
A couple of minor issues with accessing the interface from Mac or PC, the 'find Vera' link may not recognise your login details, but heading to the main Micasaverde site is another way to successfully log in to the control panel.
A great unit & will handle as many EU cert devices as needed.
