- Marmitek X10 Plug in Filter FM10U
Product Description
Features
- Prevents noise from power supplies or motors entering the electrical system.
- Plugs into any 240V outlet.
Use this module in between 'noisy' electrical items and your wall socket to reduce the amount of signal noise that is fed into the powerline.
By using these modules you can improve the reliability of your X10 setup.
If you find that you are getting lights/appliances switching on and off at random then this is what you need.
Details
The transmission of high frequency signals via the mains network (such as those used to carry X10) can be affected by active or passive interference. When used correctly, the plug-in filter will extensively suppress any interference from a poor quality power supply or motor.
Typical active interference sources are appliances that do not dispose of a regular interference suppression according to the norm. Normally, interference generated within the house network is without significance as the special dynamic filtering techniques of the X10 system ensure undisturbed performance. However, with a particularly bad device, just plug in the filter and the interference is isolated.

It Works
Posted by RGR on 12th Apr 2017
I was a bit doubtful that this filter would work because it only reduces interference by 14dB, less than other filters that don't seem to be available. But it works. My computer equipment was sucking all the X10 signal away - I unplugged all the office equipment and the X10 system came good - so the filter is installed between the mains and Uninterruptible Power Supply for the office and life is good again.

Does what is says on the tin

As I've added more boxes to connect to my TVs (Amazon Fire TV and Humax PVR) I've had a few problems with x10 appliance modules nearby not working correctly. By adding one of these filters in between all of the equipment and the socket, they are now working reliably again.
